Safe Optimization

It’s getting crammed in my safes, both for handguns and long guns. I decided to try the rods offered by guns storage solutions for the long guns

It does work well, but I was running out of rods with the 20 rods kit, and it’s quite expensive for plastic rods and a piece of cloth, abt $ 100 here in Switzerland from Brownells. So I decided to make a few more rods for cheap.

Just put one more in the first safe, so three more than previously, from eight to eleven, five being scoped

Not be facetious here, (well maybe just a wee bit), but I wonder if you aren't at the point where you sell off all the safes and just put the big vault door on the gun room and leave it at that after you reinforce the walls, floor and ceiling.

As usual I totally enjoy your excellent pictures.

Thanks for posting.

You’re probably right, I’ve been running behind for years in terms of safes and storage space. Always prioritised investing in the guns.

Doesn't this assume that all the safes fit in one room?

Looks really nice. May I ask what make/model that first safe is? The top green one.

I like it. Did you put anything on the dowels?
I may try to devise something similar for my specialty pistols.
Good work.

Sorry, there’s no brand written on it, it was on sale 1/2 price in a department store here in Switzerland

Good work.

Thanks. No, the wood seemed well dried. I’ll inspect the barrels with a borescope periodically

thanks for posting this, I will be headed to the home store this weekend for dowels and velcro

I think I will put a coat of paste wax on the dowels to keep them from absorbing moisture. It's probably unnecessary but the OCD part of my brain won't be happy unless I do

What a great idea. I could double the number of long guns in my safe. Also would give me an excuse to buy more.
