Mobuck, does it have to actually catch the brass, or just prevent it from landing ten or 12 feet away?
I've tied a kerchief around the middle of a scope and draped it over the ejection port. On a bench, it leaves the brass in a pile just a few inches to the right of the rifle.

This is a molded deflector with a bag attached to catch the fired brass. Removal of the bag turns it into a "drop it at your feet" deflector.
