I got a SR9c last month. Agree with many other posters, it has an excellent trigger, and the mag features out of the box are very nice. Love it as a carry gun. Only downside so far is the chance of a snag particularly on the lefty side of the ambidextrous safety. Overall, no regrets. Did not look at M&P. Ruger was available and price was competitive.

In my area the M&P is only $50 more at $500 as opposed to $450.

One reason I prefer the SR9c is due to its Glock style safe action trigger. And given that it seems to be a bit more narrow in the slide and it's cheaper!
I can't wait to get one and the get myself a CrossBreed Appendix Carry for it!
Now, another question: is carrying two 17 round magazines overkill? I think that would be great! Man, I am so excited about getting this!

When I carry my CZ-75, I generally have a loaded mag in the gun, 2 loaded mags either on my belt or in my car, and a round in the chamber. And that doesn't count any BUG I may or may not have...

In short, no.

I LOVE the feel of the full-size M&P, and can't stand the M&P Compact. Amazed that a slightly short grip changes it for me so much.

The SR9c, on the other hand, is extremely comfortable for me.

Quality is there in both, but I prefer the lack of safeties on the M&P.

Hard choice if they both fit you well.

They're both great guns. My buddy carries the Ruger, and I carry the Smith. I'm comfortable shooting either one. I chose the M&P because I knew i would eventually buy a Shield 9 for warmer weather carry. Now that I have both, I'm totally content with my carry guns.

M&P 9c-that grip is SOOO NICE.

You could run +p+'s in it (not recommended by the factory) and control it-probably.

Smith got those grips spot on for my hand.

Biggest advance in handgun grips I've seen in my lifetime so far.

Agreed. The compact M&P does have a totally different feel versus the full size. When I went shopping for my Glock 26, I found the M&P compact which to me felt way better in my hand. I took home the M&P compact.

However, I think of the two you're asking about, the SR9c would be an easier carry due to it's overall slimmer feel. I recently had a SR9 but sold it to fund my M&P full size since I wanted to build on the M&P platform. It was a great feeling pistol in the hand.
