Old guys can still catch gators....

#3 on the season. Not real fat but still 12' 5" and close to 500 pounds.

If I can remember I will take a up close of his head tomorrow at work. I'll do that so you can see what a .357 WILL NOT do to a gator head when you place the bangstick to far forward. Thrust me on this one, unless you tap the right spot a .357 is not going into the skull of a big gator. As best I can tell their heads are almost as hard as the brother in law's........

I don't remember seeing many in the panhandle, especially not that size.

Now, if you go to Lake Jessup, near Orlando, a 12-footer would be about average. The state has relocated "problem" gators to Jessup for many years. Apparently, a lot of new home buyers during the Oviedo boom didn't realize this....

ML, That is bswiv OP... But there are plenty of average 6 footer size up here. Some monsters too I bet, but nothing like the St.Johns river system.

I think bswiv hunts the northern sector of the St.Johns river.
I know that every mile of the southern 2/3 of that river that are navigable by jon boat hold potential "shoe momma" size gators...

I had some friends who water-skied up there; they were transiting home as dusk was turning into dark, and were amazed by the numbers of pairs of eyes that looked at them from the water's edge, reflected in their light.

They still water-ski out there, I think, but they're a lot more watchful than they used to be.

Holy Moly! That's awesome! It looks like fun too, right up until the point where you have to lift him in the boat.

Not long ago, I had a platter of deep fried gator. It reminds me of sturgeon; YUM!
