45 LC Out Of A 410 Shotgun ?

One of the young guns at work asked if you can shoot 410 out of a REVOLVER.

Why not 45 LC out of a shotgun? I said it would blow up the 45 is .454 in diameter Not .410 bore .Was i correct ?

And, the .410 can only be shot from a revolver with a cylinder long enough the take whatever (2-1/2" or 3") .410 shell.

The pressure for the 45 Colt ( with out looking it up ) is about twice that of the 410 and with a different pressure curve ( shock wave if you will ). You might get away with it far a few shots, but it is like a time bomb that is ticking away. Sooner or later something is going to give, if the shooter is lucky it will only be a cracked frame, if he is unlucky it will a shattered frame or burst barrel. Does he feel lucky?Very bad ideal, been there done that, know what I'm talking about.

The scary thing is that .460 Rem Mag brass will fit a .410 as well...

Load them up with 60 grains of fffG black powder and the correct caliber slug and you have a pretty fair musket cartridge for your .410 though.

Don't ask me how I know this...

The TC Contender pistols in 45 colt will shoot 410 shells safely. Wouldn't recommend the opposite.

Best to save it for one of the many firearms designed for it, yes?

Probably run into some serious problems trying to force the slug down a .410 bore, then through a choke. If the slug makes it out without any damage, it'll tumble. Nothing I see to be gained by even trying.

There are some guns made to shoot both.

There are videos of a guy doing this on YouTube, he also shot 454 and if I remember right 460 or of a single shot .410. Still would recommend it.
