Pump action double barrel

Anybody else notice the actor portraying Doc Holiday rack his sawed off double barrel shotgun on "10 things you don't know about the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" on the History Channel tonight. You gotta love Hollywood.

I think I ran across a pump action double barrel on an internet adventure one day but I think it was two pumps just mated together. A double barrel pump would be fun though!

My Dad and I were discussing a pump double barrel after seeing the show. Figured Ithacas would work pretty good welded together because of their bottom ejection. That'd be a handful though, wouldn't it?

Interesting that they have him racking a shotgun.

Quote:
In Stuart Lake's Wyatt Earp, Frontier Marshal, Wyatt states, "Doc Holliday never carried a sawed-off shotgun into a fight but once in his life and upon this one occasion (the Tombstone gunfight) he threw the gun down in disgust after firing one shot and jerked the nickel-plated Colt's which was for years his favorite weapon."

I looked at the episode on Youtube and that doesn't look lilke a pump. The fore stock is always in the same position and if it was a pump you would have to have some magazine tubes for the documentary. I think some sound tech added the sound of a pump racking.

Over on TheHighRoad.org, search for a thread on "Remington 1740". An inventive member bolted up two 870s for a double barreled pumpgun.

My friend, are you saying that Hollywood's most experienced foley artists don't work for the History Channel? If so, I concur.

Dbl. pump?

A double pump at the OK Corral?
Hmmm. The legendary gunfight took place in 1881. If memory serves, the first pump action shotgun was designed by John Browning in 1893 (at least, that was when production of the Winchester M1893 began).

Please look at Spencer Arms Co. 1882-1889. First successful American slide or pump action repeating shotgun.

Flayderman's Guide 6th edition

It seems that Spencer was a year too late for Doc Holiday.

yeah.

Jaguar: Thanks for that info. I stand corrected. I learn something new every day.

PS - Do you actually have an XK 120? One of the classic beauties - along with the 140, 150 and the E. They made marvelous cars.
