Favorite powder for 7mm Remington Magnum.

I just got a Ruger M77 MkII in 7mm Rem. Mag. My intention is to reload for it. What is your favorite bullet/powder combo?

I use Reloder22 and love it, I have tried several but never went back after trying R22. I load barnes 140 X bullets up to 168 vld with great results. It is clean very accurate and shows no sensitivity to temperature. This deer season I took 3 whitetails in 3 shots at 300 yards+ with a load of R22 and hornady 154gr interlocks, all instant kills. Even with the less than match grade interlocks I can get sub moa groups with this powder in my weatherby vanguard.
I am sure there are going to be several replies with great powders but I'll bet R22 and maby a few Hodgdon powders are in most of them.

RL22 is the "go to."

Re-22 is a good choice.Your bullet weight matters.

I have found H-1000 works well with the heavier bullets,in my rifle I got better accuracy with H-1000 than Re-22 by a little.

Get a loading manual for the bullet company you will use,maybe Nosler or Sierra?Study the recommended powders,look at "Accuracy loads" and "recommended hunting loads"

Read the rest of the manual on loading procedures,have fun,be safe.

160gr Speer SPFB over IMR4350. Worked up a load that results in 5 shots in a nickel at 100 yds. out of my Savage 110. I got similar results with WXR, but I can no longer find that powder.

WXR was really just pretty much RL22 (no, I'm not advocating exchanging data!)... but that's about what WXR was. Both powders are made in Sweden... both look, smell, and walk like the same powder... but again, I'm not telling you to exchange data--just saying if you use RL22 and follow RL22 data, you'll probably end up right at or very close to what you had with the WXR.

They put that on the market when they found that they could not get enough WMR to keep up with their factory ammo production. This resulted in Winchester pulling WMR off the shelf and replacing it with WXR, "X" being presumably for "extruded"...

The new 780 is pretty close to what had been WMR...

There are numerous threads just for this subject, and good for you cause I love talking 7 mm rem mag.
Lets get down to brass tacks, my rifle is a Vanguard, and so far it likes five different bullets, 4 of which I handload for.
I use three powders including IMR 4350, IMR 4831, IMR 7828.
I get solid performance from all three.

I have a 7mm RM pet loads thread on here you may want to check out.

I like IMR 4350 under a 139gr Hornady Interlock. I also like IMR 7828 under the same bullet.

IMR 4350 using Hornady 154 grain in an old beatup Remington 700ADL that I bought used at Grady's Gun Shop in Anderson South Carolina around 1974. Extremely accurate. Killed many deer and crows with it.

I now use Supreme 780 and 140 gr combined technology ballistic tips. Used to use Rl22 and MRP (which is pretty much identical powder) in the 7Rem, but Supreme is just as accurate and it screams.

I've gone round the "bush" a few times with the several 7s I've had. My favorite load was a 145gr Speer over H4831 at 3130 in a short throated 700. I discovered that standard bullets of less than 150gr at 3000fps or more make a real mess. Now, it's 150gr Partitions or 154 Interbonds with IMR4350 or IMR4831.
