I live in Boulder(since 1993, went to CU..1968-1972..came back 20 years later post USN) and I think you would be surprised at how many people own firearms w/i not only the county limits but the city limits. Anecdotal only but my CCW class of 30 in Longmont, about 18 were from Boulder County. PLUS open carry in Boulder City? Completely legal..Open Carry in Denver, absolutely illegal..

BTW-My CCWP took about 7 weeks..because, when I asked the lady who did them..cuz they are really busy..
I was there from 2012-2015 in an enlisted commissioning program, meaning I taught a lot of Midshipmen how to shoot. The neat thing about Boulder that people don't realize is that when you take away CU, its a bunch of older wealthy conservatives that pretend to be liberal that run the city. Legalized weed in CO? Not in Boulder County.

My Broomfield County CCW took about that long too, but the guy who processed it told me it was because the state tried to get every bit of the 90 days out of the maximum time allowed for processing as they could. Once I get off this rock in the middle of the Pacific I may try to head back that way; there are enough Marine billets between Buckley, recruiting out of Denver and the CU NROTC unit that there is at least a slight chance.

There were a handful of professors that I routinely tried to antagonize due to their ignorance and the way they utilized their platform to spread it, hence the "I am carrying"shirt and a Christmas sweater that was nothing but firearms. My adviser had a "no concealed weapons allowed" sign and an upside down American flag on his wall. He was not thrilled when I asked where I should leave my pistol.....

My first paragraph is negated if you include Naropa. But I don't think any of them vote.

Not sure about that and there are 17 marijuana stores in Boulder county and 14 of those in Boulder City Limits.

Not a fan of some of the silly stuff the Boulder City Council comes up with(Boulder is a nuclear free zone..copy to China, Russia and NK)

NESEP? I graduated from CU, NROTC in 1972..thence to Flight School..thanks for your service.

For 136 years, the University of Colorado banned anyone but law enforcement officers from carrying a firearm on campus. That changed in March 2012, when the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that a 2003 law expanding concealed gun carry rights in the state overrode the university’s Board of Regents.

The impassioned debate at the time of that ruling has long since subsided, even at the flagship campus in Boulder, a liberal outpost in the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

“The concealed carry issue is not much on the radar screen these days,” said Bruce Benson, president of the University of Colorado system, which includes the Boulder campus and three others.

I think because of the blue-ish tint of the state coupled with a LOT of BS and misinformation, most with regards to gun ownership, use, CCW, EDC, etc. In fact, buying, using and carrying a handgun in CO is quite easy and as has been mentioned...OpenCarry is legal in Boulder.....a lot of this is 3rd, 4th, 5th hand, some blog or some other internet crappola that comes from people who have never been here.

How about CCW on Univ of Alabama campus? LSU(Louisiana)?..how about some other 'conservative states?

If you bend over to tie your shoe, or play with your kids, will it show? Will it matter to you?

I don't live in a PC People's State, so I don't care if it shows.

I suspected as much. And I still personally view Colorado as almost purple. It’s politics have shifted over the years but I don’t perceive the state as a whole to be the socialist bastion it’s portrayed to be. I’ve never been there admittedly, but I have several old friends from the state who are quite conservative. They don’t lament Colorado politics too much, other than me joking with them about toking up... and then it’s just more of a roll of the eyes than a true lamentation. Admittedly, I don’t talk politics with friends much. Much more meaningful conversations to be had when I get to speak to old friends.
