A5 feed problem

I have a Browning A5 sweet sixteen that ejects the second shell after firing the first. Subsequently, it will fire the third shot.

If anyone has any clues, please chime in.

It's a beautiful old gun (1948) that I'd like to keep in top shape.

it ejects the spent first round and the unfired second on the same extraction?

Your cartridge stop is worn out, or the spring on it is. Order both from Brownells and remove the screw on the bottom left side of the receiver, next to where you put the shells in. Pull out the old cartridge stop put the new cartridge stop and spring in.

I agree it is probably the cartridge stop. It could be worn out, but I would guess it may be sticky from varnished oil. Try a full disassembly/cleaning before buying any parts.

Good advice! Congealed or varnished lube is pretty common in old firearms! I shoot a 40+ yr-old Lt. 12 that just never misses a lick. I didn't clean in innards for 30 of those 40 yrs!
