Problem with Franchi 48AL

I have bought a Franchi 48AL "Black Magic". The problem is with the barrel extension. I own two other Franchi 48, every one has a barrel extension that is fixed (so it seems) to the barrel. Examining the Black Magic I found out that the barrel extension is removable by screwing it off the barrel. The problem is if I screw it on as far as it goes the barrel doesn't fit into the gun anymore. I have to turn loose the barrel extension 1/8 turn and verything fits. Of course the barrel extension has some slightly axial play to the barrel then.

Is this right? Could it damage the gun (I guess so)? The barrel has 30" and has no removable chokes. Could it be that it's some king of amateurish barrel fittting job instead of the original one? I thought all Black Magics had removable chokes..

No idea? I think I'll have to find a replacement barrel in Italy.
