i have all kinds of different mags, they all work great, but the one i always grab first is the c-products, its what came with the gun and it just loads easier and seem lighter than the p-mag although its all metal, def less bulky
i do lke the window on some of the plastic ones though

Thanks everyone for the replies! Not only is it interesting to hear about some of the gear others use, but I am in the process in buying and trying new mags. Just experimenting and trying to buy up different brands and mags to see what I really like! Anyone use a Troy Battle mag before?

I have Pmags, Alum GI and Steel.
The steel mags I have are slightly thinner walled, due to steel being stronger and heavier. Thin walls are still stronger, but cut some weight... but that means a slightly larger inside diameter, and the rounds fit a little looser inside. |

NHMTG aluminum 20's are GTG. Brownells enhanced (w/Magpul followers) also reliable for me.

I bought a 3 pack of the Troy mags and use them regularly. Though I said the FHN mags are my favorite, mainly because they are steel and I am old fashioned that way - I have noticed no appreciable difference between PMAG, Troy and Lancer...in my experience: they have all been rock solid reliable.

Troy with flush base. They fit in a mag pouch better than Pmags. I also have a lot of C Products aluminum and stainless steel mags which I like.

Long ago I bought a 7 pack of NOS GI aluminum mags,20 rounders. They work.
I have a number of C products. They work,in 7.62,also.I like 20 rounders. Long ago, bought some 30 rd steel British mags..SR80's?Nato spec, they work. They were cheap, maybe a touch heavy, but tough. I have some P-mags,cant tell you long term, have not used them much, but they feel like quality, and no problems yet.Magpul has treared me well . I don't drop them, step on them,or try to load 21 or 31.I keep them reasonably clean. I have seen junk magazines...but they look like junk. |

20 rd Pmags handle easier for me than 30 rounders.
Got plenty of both though.

I go with PMags. They are cheap enough, darn reliable, and easy to find.

Swampfox mags since they are $12 at the LGS. Pmags are $24 each at Gander Mountain which is the closest place to me (30 mins.) that sells them.

For the carbine just give me a 30 round GI mag. They've worked fine for me for 30+ years. I've lost a lot more than I've demolished and I still have several boxes of new Colt mags going back to the 80's I've not even dug into yet. I've never had one fail, though I've stepped on more than one by accident.
For the varmint and the VIP, I like 20 round GI mags. |

Im a 20rd fan myself. Right now im using my vietnam era colt 20rd mags the most. Never had any issues and one is a early .223 marked air force mag. Ill have to check what they are all marked. The 20rd pmags are nice as well.

I really like the HK steel ones, but they are heavy.
I dont have much preference, but I have mostly Pmags. Troy mags also look really nice, and I have a couple but havent used them. Tapco, those are just for the range. I bought a couple during the "panic".

What's your favorite AR magazine?
Stock 30-round on my Colt and my 30-round Pmag.
