Gun ownership and prescriptions
Is it legal to own a firearm if someone has been or is on a prescription antidepressant or other SSRI? I see NY is doing gun confiscation via this now.

How is that implemented under the SAFE act? Give a specific link as I don't think this is the case.
The law deals with mental health professionals reporting individuals. See https://www.omh.ny.gov/omhweb/safe_act/nysafe.pdf Please don't post unsubstantiated rumors.

I apologies. This was more of a question and not limited to New York.

There is no federal law that prohibits persons taking anti-depressants from owning firearms. The limitations are those who have been involuntarily committed to a mental institution, convicted of a felony or specified violent misdemeanors, or who have been adjudicated incompetent.
After that it is a state by state inquiry. I can state that California has no such restriction on gun ownership. |

Although I could find no law against it here in PA, when I broke my back I was on some heavy painkillers. I stopped carrying until I could reduce the dosage.
