"It was truly a "Classic" Turret press."
Know what you mean, "a classic" isn't the same as "the Classic" so things can get mixed up.
No maker has as many press options as Lee. It gets comical when some web equipment "experts" start pontificating about how they dislike "the Lee press" without saying which they are speaking of. And, to the degree the stories of breaks, etc, are valid, they are usually due to massive operator ignorance and/or abuse rather than a legitimate equipment failure!
It's absolutely silly for anyone to compare the total strength of ANY alum alloy press (including the alum. RCBS Partner and at least one of the older RCBS Jr. press series) to a cast iron Rock Chucker. BUT, the alloy presses are plenty strong enough for common uses if the are used intelligently and according to Lee's instructions.
Lee's newer Classic Cast (iron) presses are superior to my old RC II in every way; they are bigger, stronger and have MUCH better user features!
