Gen 2 glock vs gen 4

Is there any functional difference between a glock 23
Gen 2 and the gen 4
My gen 2 seems like a perfect gun to me but if
There is safely or functional difference I would upgrade

The biggest difference is a selection of backstraps for the gen 4. There's a couple small internal 'improvements' on the gen 4 but I don't know what they are.

"If you like your Glock, you can keep your Glock."

Seriously though, you won't notice anything better on the G4 if you already like your G2. I'd stay with what you have.

Gen 4s have a dual recoil spring to cut down on recoil, as well as a better supported chamber. For ergonomic difference, you get finger grooves, rougher texturing, and replaceable back straps.

I've got a Gen 2 19, and haven't felt the need to swap to a Gen 4. Though I have thought about it multiple times.

I have Gen2 and Gen4 Glocks. My 2nd Gen model 19 is one of my favorite pistols. I would not trade it for a Gen4 model 19. I have no use for the rails on the Gen4 gun.

It's much easier to mount a weapon-light on a G19Gen4.
The Gen4 has a reversible mag catch whereas the Gen2 doesn't.

The fact that your Gen2 G-23 does not have front-strap finger grooves makes it more desirable than a Gen 3 or 4, strictly MHO here.
