360 characters = <2 characters?

I try to post a message to a thread and I get the following message:

"The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 2 characters."

As it turns out, the message is actually 360 characters in length.

What is the problem; and what is the workaround?

The post had "quote" formatting around it and when I removed that formatting it posted.

Yep. The software doesn't recognize a post with nothing but a quote as having any characters. You've got to add at least a couple characters of your own.
