Removing glue from grip tape on police trade in help!!!

Ok folks. I got a great deal on a police trade in glock. It has grip tape or something like it on the grip and under the trigger guard. I want to remove the unsightly tape how do I remove the left behind glue? Thank as usual guys.

Some lighter fluid on a rag. Won't damage the polymer.

That it does, railroader, but it has the potential to damage the polymer.

It's likely just basic citris cleaner, but I really like Goo Gone.

Naptha (lighter fluid but much cheaper) is about the least harmful solvent you can use. You need to keep a can around the house.

I use it to clean microwave ovens, halogen cookers and etc.

I would use the duct tape trick before I would use chemicals on Nylon. Stick the tape on it and rip it off quick and it will take the sticky goop off. Chemicals are always a last resort on plastics. My opinion of course

91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol did a great job to take the Talon grip adhesive residue off of the grip of my Glock 19

I use isopropyl alcohol to do periodic cleanings of polymer pistols. It strips off oil and light grease very well and like you said can do adhesive too. Depending on how sticky it is I switch to Goo Gone.

I use brake cleaner on them too. The only polymer handgun I have that was an issue with was a Ruger P97. That polymer would discolor with brake cleaner so I only used synthetic polymer safe gun cleaner.

I've used wd40 and works well. Also, TurtleWax makes a citrus based decal adhesive remover that works pretty well.

Acetone has not been shown to be a carcinogen. It (along with many other things) may be, but the toxicological evidence is not there. That said, inhalation of high concentrations of acetone can have other acute and chronic health effects. Here's the statement on carcinogenicity from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR, generally regarded, at least in this country, as the authority on such things):

"The Department of Health and Human Services, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have not classified acetone for carcinogenicity.

Acetone does not cause skin cancer in animals when applied to the skin. We don't know if breathing or swallowing acetone for long periods will cause cancer. Studies of workers exposed to it found no significant risk of death
from cancer."

Another vote for Goo Gone - get it at Walmart; their companion Goof Off is another good product

Goo Gone or WD40. Both work well at removing sticky adhesives. I've used WD 40 to clean all sorts of caulking from my fingers. Silicone, even buytl caulk that almost nothing else will touch.

Goo Gone & Goof Off are great for that

Cute trick to enhance the look of polymer pistols is to wipe down with an oily rag,
let it soak in a bit, then follow up with a dry cloth a few minutes later.
Also make plastic car parts look better
