Winchester 94 serial #123404

Hi everybody, new here and I love this site.
I need some info about this rifle. It was a gift from an inlaw who was passed away. I don't really want it or need it. The 94 is in great shape with a little rust,
I live on the Oregon coast and everything rusts, and I believe it was manufactured about 1898? Also, How do I remove the light rust.

First, put some CLP or similar to stop the rusting. Then post some pictures so people get an idea how bad the "light rust" is. Ditto for help with value.
For truly light rust some 00000 steel wool might be sufficient, be careful to use plenty of fresh pads to not scratch the remaining finish with the rust stuck in the pad.
I used to love being able to hit hard at 1000 yards. As I get older I find hitting a mini ram at 200 yards with the 22 oddly more satisfying.

Is there someone else in your family that might really want it? If you price it right, it will sell. On the other hand, if you really price it right, you'll be stuck with it until one day you won't want to sell it.

Johnnyjack, your gun was manufactured in 1901.
