.50 caliber Walker!

I saw one in a shop not too far from me today.

The guy had what I thought was a ridiculous price of $899 on it- which turned me off from even looking at it.

What is the story on these guns? Anyone know? Italian made reproduction I do know...but made by who?

I didn't ask the feller to get it out, as I already decided it was madly overpriced.

Did you mean .44 caliber Walker?

Maybe it was an authentic 2nd or 3rd generation Colt Black Powder collectible revolver. They're not really sold as shooters and they can be devalued just by cocking and turning the cylinder.

Unfortunately, no. It was indeed .50 caliber.

I was told by a friend more knowledgeable than I that the Italians made a few of these monstrosities quite some time back, but didn't sell well as they weren't authentic and were expensive. Other than that, it is all I know.

Perhaps someone here has one and would care to elaborate.

He does a 50 caliber Old Army conversion, a nice one to.

But.........as beautiful as those guns are, by the time you spent that money you coulda bought yourself a brand new S&W 500.

Both guns seem to be an answer in search of a problem, I bet less then 20 percent of smith and wesson 500 owners can do some accurate shooting with that particular gun, not because there bad shooters, just that 50 caliber guns are ridiculous.

Did anyone see the Lock and Load where Lee Ermey shot the .50 cal S&W? They used a high speed camera to film him. The slow motion video showed the shock wave from the gun traveling up the bones in his arm...it was one of the most disturbing things that I've seen on TV since Joe Theismann's leg.

I'd probably shatter if I shot one.
