the screw that holds the bolt stop snapped off at the head. I was thinking of using a dremel to cut a slot for a screwdriver to get it out but I don't know if this would be a good idea since the cutting wheel would also cut some of the surrounding metal. That's one problem. The other is that the ejector isn't working. based on careful observation it seems as if the rim is bypassing the ejector. moving the bolt slightly back and forth allows the ejector to finally get behind the rim. so, I know there;s two questions here but can anyone help?

1) use a center punch to put a divet in the center of the bolt.
2) drill a hole in the center of the bolt using a left handed drill bit.
That is often enough to unthread and remove the screw. If not,
3) insert a screw extracter (easy out) into the hole and remove the screw.

Probably about $20 in tools that you can reuse over and over if/when it happens again.

First I would remove the stock from the barreled receiver and then attempt removing the screw from the bottom by backing it out or remove it from the bottom.

WD40 etc., etc..

The bolt stop screw on the Mauser protrudes quite a bit from the bottom (and is quite pointed and sharp), so as Mr. Guffey says, they normally can be turned and removed with lockjaw pliers once the stock is removed. I suspect someone put the bolt stop assembly together wrong, which is why the ejector doesn't work. You might be able to correct the problem once you get the assembly off.

Try www.gunpartscorp.com. The correct nomenclature is "bolt stop screw" and they run $3 or so plus S&H.
