Just wondering? Different clubs score either by pure time and misses OR ranking per stage performance. IS there an official SASS scoring system?

I don't know if SASS has a rule but at the clubs where I shoot, two use stage ranking and one uses time. The results come out very close either way, the stage ranking tends to be a little more forgiving to a good shooter who has one bad stage.

Howdy Ned,

The clubs I shoot with use rank scoring. While there's no "official" method,I think SASS encourages rank scoring. That's what they use at EoT,anyway.

My club is only one in state to use rank scoring. All other clubs in state use pure time. When folks come here to shoot, we always have to explain the system. They don't really care, just so long as they know HOW it is done. But I like using the same system as EoT. I think we actually got our scoring disc from someone at MULE CAMP.

Howdy Ned,

The scoring program used at Mule Camp is SQScore, written by San Quentin, which is what you're probably using. The scoring program sold by SASS,Scorecard, still requires that misses and bonuses be calculated by hand before the times are entered into the computer, whereas SQScore does the calculations for you.

I'm not a big fan of total time scoring. Rank scoring rewards consistency-one bad stage can be overcome by five good stages.

Your right...the disc has "SQ Score" written on it.
