Ruger Old Army Value

Does anyone have a guess what a blued first year of issue in the box with papers, etc. at say 90% + condition ROA would be worth?
Thanks.

I'd say

500.00 to 700.00.

WAP is right

Gunbroker is getting popular enough that it is beginning to attract a larger size market and this always messes up the prices. Simple theory in marketing is that, the larger the market, the more likely the market will include at least one idiot. It only takes one person with more money than brains to hose it up for others.

What Doc Hoy said both times. Although the $700.00 is on the high side, you might still find a buyer at that figure. I sold my 1976 Bi-Centennial model two years ago, factory reblued, with custom grips, Ruger/Bianchi holster and mold for $400.00. And now am crying over that decision.

Looking to Buy

I guess I should have said I am lookijg to buy a ROA. I don't want to be the "idiot" that Doc refers to. I don't mind a fair price, but some folks are shall we say...unrealistic in what they think something is worth! That's why I thought I would ask here.

As a side note, Rifleman I wish I hads run into you two years ago!

Thanks again for everyone's time and comments.

Correct.....

700.00 is high but I have seen them go for that.

I think you are right to try not to be the guy who pays the outrageous price. The person who does that does not need to kick himself, there will be plenty of others lined up to do it for him.

I have owned three of these things:

1. 7.5 adjustable sights stainless steel. Paid $85.00 (new) in the NATO Sports Store in Naples Italy in about 1979.

2. 7.5 adjustable sights stainless steel. Paid 390.00 delivered box and papers on Gunbroker in 2011.

3. 7.5 adjustable sights blued. Paid 430.00 delivered on Gunbroker in original Ruger grey plastic carrying case in 2012.

I had a chance to buy one at a gun show for 400.00 but it was not remaining cocked. at the end of the show it was still there.

I also saw one with original box and papers at a gun show for 600.00. It sold during the show but I do not know what the final price was.

Lurk around the Gunbroker and just wait until one comes along for the price you are willing to pay. The less you want to pay, the longer you are going to have to wait.

If you just want one to shoot, ive seen lots of blued ones go on gunbroker for between $350 and $400.i started buying them last fall and have purchased 20 of them.i've paid between $300 and as high as $500 for one but it was a 1st year production in excellant condition in the original box and it was the flat top front sight model of which they made less than 800,so it's quite rare.good buys are there if you are willing to wait.price just depends on if you want a shooter or a collectable one.

I purchased 2 blued ROA In the Daytona FLA. CAP&BALL revolvers don,t sell very well. One is no pre-warning;the other good shooter;but shows use.I would use them more,if cleaning was not such a chore.
