Greetings TFL and welcome aboard.
If I understand your question correctly, the answer is: Get a chronograph. You simply haven't provided enough info for a meaningful SWAG (scientific wild-ass guess). You neglected to mention what bullet and primer you'll be using. Based on the data provided, it looks like you're using a 55 gr bullet. Speer makes several. The powder manufacture's data suggest a 55 gr Speer SP with H335 powder... A starting load of Last edited by zippy13; May 12, 2010 at 10:34 AM. |

Just a guess from my experience with H335 and 55 grain bullets in a .223 with a 16" barrel pistol and AR's.
24 gr. H335 in 18.5" barrel---2800-2850 fps 25 gr. H335 in 18.5" barrel---a little over 2900-3000 fps That's just a guess. Depends on the gun, loading components used, temperature, etc. Only way to know for sure is a chronograph. 24.5-25 grains shoots good in my rifles with 55gr bullets using H335 in various cases. Average velocity loss going from a 20" barrel to a 16" barrel is about 80-120fps depending on the loading components and rifle. Last edited by rg1; May 12, 2010 at 12:45 PM. |
