Unknown Flintlock

This is a relative's flintlock pistol. There has been no work done on it that we know of, but IT DOES FIRE. I would like ANY INFO that you can provide on this firearm. The wood is darker than the picture shows. There is also a symbol between the hammer and charge, it is an upside down Y with a C and I flanking them.

It looks to be a British New Land Pattern Cavalry pistol, as used by the British East India Company during the mid-1800s; these were usually marked with a standing lion on the lockplate, though, so this one may be an Indian copy. Can you get any close-up pictures of the lockplate?

This is not an original New Pattern British Calvary Pistol, I compared it to the flintlock and the lock plate does not have a lion or a crown;however, they are very similar. So that might make it a replica, but the symbol must mean something.
