The Russian Nagant 30 cal revolvers can often be found for $99.
Not really good for anything, but its a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. The double action trigger really sucks but the single action is fair. The below target was shot with mine at 15 yards. Not bad for this revolver. Like I said, it's a heck of a fun gun to shoot. One of these days I'm going to show up at a Multi or 3 gun match with this revolver and my Mosin Rifle. Target

About the only guns I see less than $100 are the Mosin mentioned and Cobra Derringers. Other than that you might get lucky and pick up a used H&R .22 revolver or maybe even the old .32 short and .38 S&W pocket guns common to that era. Maybe a used Heritage revolver, old crappy Jennings guns, used Hi-points, used HP22's, etc. Not much I'd touch even for a "wall hanger" at less than $100.

I recommend you move your mark up to $200, and buy half as much. Many more available at <$200. Even the old H&R and Iver Johnson 32's and 38's are above $100 now if serviceable.

The 1895 nagant is definitely going to be one of the guns bought with these 6 permits. I wish C&R could be done here but alas I'll be stuck paying $99 plus at least $50 for transfer and NICS.
I've seen little pocket .25 auto's for under $100 and a friend of mine a really neat .22 short revolver for $50. another friend got a cz-70 for $135 out the door ($99 sticker price). all of which function perfectly fine. These aren't going to be practical guns...just little neat things to shoot every now and then. I'm not a gun snob so talking about how anything for under $100 isnt worth a bucket of spit isnt going to deter me.

there's a used hi point in the local pawn shop right now for $120. If it doesn't work you could always use it as a hammer, or a boat anchor.

There's a guy who hangs out at one of my favorite gun shops, whose nickname is "Saturday Night John," because he collects Saturday night specials -- like the Jiminez/Wilkinson/___/___ pistols. But ... he collects them, and he understand that those pieces of junk are NOT safe to shoot, so he doesn't shoot them. If you want shootable pistols for under $100, there's basically nothing out there other than the Mosin. |

IMHO, I'd rather have one $600 gun than 6 $100 guns. In the long run with a $50 transfer per gun, you'd have $900 invested in 6 POS guns, that are still maybe worth $600. Odds are they won't be Quote:
One nice $600 gun would be $650 and has a chance to appreciate in value or be a legitimate shooter. Me, I'd eat the other 5 permits and get something decent. |

I'm a bit fuzzy (read: completely ignorant) on NJ law but, why would your permits go to waste? Do you have to use them within a certain amount of time?

Do the permits have a time limit? If not I second the recommendation of bumping it up. Honestly for under $100 online I am not sure you will find anything that you will be happy in the long run. I would hate to have the feeling that I "wasted" one of my permits on a gun that I am not happy with in the long run.
You can find many many more shootable and interesting guns if you bump the price up some. Makarovs and CZ 83 for $200 - $250. High quality S&W used revolvers for under $300. The novelty and the interest will wear off much quicker on a $100 25acp gun once you find out it is not durable and parts are hard to find. On the other hand a Makarov or S&W revolver will stay with you for a long time |

In NJ once you apply for permits it takes about 1-2 months and $30 to get them. They last 3 months (can be extended to 6 months if your local PD is friendly..mine is) and you can only buy 1 gun every 30 days. Hence the time contraints.
There's not that many $600 handgunds I'm looking for right now and unfortunatly after i sent in for permits something came up that required me to divert funds. hence the low budget. The deal is, I have 6 permits coming in and I want to use them all. 3 of which are spoken for 1: 1895 nagant 2: polish tok 3: mag 98. The other 3 I'm escentially looking to "burn" on cheap guns.. just something that I can shoot from time to time and is hopefully interesting, wort case scenerio they'll make cool decorations

Okay, reading that just made my head explode.....
But I think I get it - have you looked into any of the guns goming out of South America right now? There's of course Taurus......but have you looked at Bersa? They are cheap, but not cheap - no idea if they are Jersey legal though, but as the importer is based in Jersey....

NJ gun laws are quite capable of causing head explosions. If you have a minute watch this video to give you a better idea.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fC2iu3CTPc Guns from any country are legal as long as they're not a named assult weapon or "substancially idential" to one. I well aware of the offerings of bersa and taurus. however nothing they offer really tickles my fancy right now. I like older guns... something about them just makes them interesting.

Go on gun broker...advanced..you can set price limit and go for it...you won't find much. Keep in mind shipping, tax n trasfer fees if applies.Guns uner $100 are usually crap. Might as well go to a Casino and gamble the money away You could also move out of NJ to a state where you can buy firearms.

I suggest getting a copy of Shotgun News and looking at the ads from places such as J&G Sales in Arizona, that specialize in moving lower-cost, European surplus firearms. But even those are probably going to be in the $200 to $300 range if you're going to be picky and expect to actually shoot them. You can pick up Saturday night specials (Jiminez/Wilkinson/Lorcin) for less, but I think most here would agree that you probably shouldn't try to actually shoot any of those.

I still think your return on investment would increase dramatically if you could find a way to bump it up to $250 or so. If not here are some recommendations.
have bought 2 guns in the last couple of years for $100 or less and I am happy with both. A used NAA mini 22lr ($99) A Spanish copy of a Colt vest pocket $25acp ($70) Also look at a used Heritage Rough Rider revolver in 22lr/22mag. They can be found new for under $200 so maybe you could find one used at your price point. |

Do you need a permit for a Co2 pellet gun? That might be the only handgun in your price range.
If you were interested in buying a long gun, a used single shot shotgun or .22 rifle might be found at that price. |

I have a crappy old Phoenix Raven .25 acp that I keep in the center console in my car, kind of like a couple shot derringer if you will. It does shoot, doesn't really malfunction, not good for anything but close up, but I have had people decide they didn't feel like messing with me when they saw me take it out. I bought it in the 90's for like $40 bucks, if there are any left that didn't get turned in for the "cash for guns" things, you might find one. I wouldn't pay much more than $15 or $20 bucks for one though.
