What range is a 4x-24 scope good for?
When I purchase a rifle yesterday it was suspose to have came with a 6x-42 scope, but they were all out. They replaced it with a 4x-24 scope. At about what range is this scope good for. Thanks....

Depends on what you're shooting at, I guess. If you can see the target, and it's not obscured by the reticle, then the rest is up to you. High Power shooters shoot out to what...as far as 1000 yds with iron sights?

I have used fixed 24X for smallbore position match work....100yds. Have used fixed 4X for huntin, target and whatever. The higher the power, usually, the longer it takes to obtain a sight picture and the narrower your field of view. Really high power scopes are generaly pretty special purpose and a pain to use for most things. Sam |
