Duzell,
It is a bunker sorta... More like a shed, its actually falling apart so it really does look like a war zone when you see the whole thing. Just a neglected part of the range I go to. Bullet casings on the floor an inch deep, half the roof missing... Maybe thats what they were going for?

Just finished the mosin. I repainted it with rustoleum camo. Coyote/kakhi tan.

My favorite, a 91/59:
I happen to like turned down bolt handles, so here it is with one installed (the 91/30 is a 1922 Izzy hex): Here's a shot of the Mojo rear sight that was on the 1922 91/30: Regards, Greg |

@TMW89, i love the repaint, im thinking of doing that with my old stock, and im going to grab some leaves, ferns and spray paint camo shadows with it, i hope it comes out well
@greg, well i think its great looking, the stock looks in great condition i have not tried the pull down bolts, but many of the mosin users who have them say they are great and quick to use. i have a rock solid bent bolt that i tweaked to my own length and specs. the only downside id say with it it it sticks into the case in a weird way, that a bent down would not have this problem. hows the cycling with it? those iron sights are supposed to be really good, and nice, more like a swiss? i went scope due to the distances i shoot, but i have to say you can never beat iron sights for reliability, thus i keep mine

Duzell,
The bent bolt handle cycles well for me. The leverage is much better and I find that I'm less likely to slip off the handle if the bolt binds at all. Speaking of which, the Izzy's bolt was sticky to down right hard to operate. I had tried most of the internet cures (I.E. spinning a shotgun bore brush in the chamber, etc.) and mentioned this to the guy I bought the bolt handles from; he suggested I try a different bolt head. He sold me a couple pretty cheap. The first one I tried immediately fixed the problem I had similar success with my other MN that was a little sticky. Now, all are very smooth operating. I also swapped out most of the magazine well/trigger guards for the Finn anti-jam type. The Mojo sight is ok, but I found I prefer the slider on the tangent sight for range changes Here's a quick video of the 91/59 being fired in low light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_l0-_7bI_Q Regards, Greg |

next time you shoot your mosin nagant = shoot 1 round with cleaning rod in position and next round with it removed. i have experienced what i think is harmonics from rod changing impact of bullet.
let me/us know what you find out, please. |

i think removing the rod and upper wood hand guard were the first things i did after my second shoot with bl's origional stock. i have since put them back together and use the boyds stock with better group consistency

Here's my '39 Tula I just got at Cabela's in Buda. $129 in the store, where they are asking $169 online. It took me about 30 minutes to go through their rack to find this one. They had two behind the counter, one was a '39 Izhevsk, but I like the Tula better because it had a nicer stock.
I haven't been able to shoot it yet, and I'm sure it's still full of cosmoline. I had no idea they sold them. I had previously mentioned to my wife that I wanted one, and that they could be had for less than $200. She surprised me by agreeing that we should get one at this price, that she was going to give me the $$/go ahead to get one for my birthday. Last edited by nate_g_2003; October 23, 2013 at 11:14 AM. She's a keeper! Now, of course, you have to find out what SHE wants, so you can give the go-ahead on that.

Haha, yep! I got her a Hi-Point .380 for mother's day as a surprise. She was really excited about it, and loved it despite her brother's "typical Hi-Point opinion". But she also just shot his RIA commander-size 1911, and now she wants a 1911 commander haha. She's shot my 1911R1 and liked it, but she likes that the commander is sized just right for her.
So it looks like one of those just went on the list! I was really surprised when she was game to walk out of Cabela's with a gun, but that's why I married her! Back on topic: My mosin appears to be 75% original numbers matching. The magazine floorplate has a previous number crossed out, everything else has just a single number, and doesn't look like any other parts were swapped upon re-arsenal.

not really, I never liked the mosin before so I never felt the need for detailed pics, perhaps tomorrow I'll take some pics outside where I have good light.
