Micro Roni?
Anyone have a Micro Roni? Supposed to convert a Glock into a little baby carbine, 100% legal not NFA.

Not a carbine.
Still, technically, a pistol. Note the "brace" used in the chassis. Nothing provided by the 'chassis', other than providing an NFA-legal forward grip. No velocity gains. No accuracy gains. Novelty for people that like the bang switch. ...With potential legal implications when brace use gets "re-interpreted" again. ...My opinion.

I’ve shot one that a friend had.
Glocks and I just don’t get along. I can shoot them to an “acceptable” point of accuracy but I’m generally working much harder to do so than I am with other choices. Combination of shape, unnaturally feeling and lack of time spent with them. When I’ve used the Roni kits, it’s easier for me to reach acceptable levels of accuracy then when not using one. The Roni is the only reason I would buy a Glock. FrakenMauser has valid points though. The inherit accuracy of the gun isn’t changed and it’s not picking up any velocity. Instead, you get the front grip ability which can help the human aspect of the accuracy. |

There's an extensive review of the Micro RONI (macaroni?) in the issue of Firearms News I was reading over the weekend.
If I still have it, I'll send it to you. PM your address if interested.

Is that a San Francisco treat?

I'm not a Glock fan, and have no experience with the RONI, but if the point is to turn a handgun into a sort-of carbine, I'd prefer that the base gun be the one with the longest barrel, rather than an already-compact gun like the G19.
How about a not-as-micro RONI for the G17L, so the additional 100-150fps of the longer barrel can be exploited? I would think the practical improvement in accuracy could be considerable, regardless of the mechanical accuracy of the base gun. Along the lines of the M1 Carbine replacing the M1911A1 in some instances; maybe the difference in putting accurate fire on a target fifteen feet away isn't significant, but if you're shooting at something fifty yards away?

you seek to improve accuracy by snapping your handgun into 3 pounds of extra, and useless plastic that costs $500 and requires you to purchase some other form of sights...
I was once enamored with their model that actually gave you a buttstock and "barrel" that gave the minimum OAL to make it legal without an SBR stamp, but they discontinued it in favor of their SBR variants. I think I would rather just get a mechtech upper, assuming this was for a glock or 1911. at least then you get a full rifle, instead of a heavier handgun.

Got one at the shop, if anyone's interested. I can't even figure out how to open the thing.

RONI
I like mine. I have one of my G19's dedicated to it. Makes a nice truck gun, as you can pull the Glock out in <10 seconds if you don't want to leave it behind. If you buy one make sure it has the new longer brace released this year at SHOT. I back fitted mine and it made all the difference in the world. I got an email ad from CAA not long ago offering BOGO sale on the original version.

Glock should make a real carbine. I bet it would be better on all measures than the Ruger PC. Measures being: light, reliable and accurate. Even the excellent KelTec Sub 2000, might get a run for money.
Edit: Never mind, I just did a google. They make or introduced an AR style glock rifle. Figures. KelTec has no need to worry. Last edited by fourbore; August 10, 2018 at 02:41 PM. |

uh? glock doesn't make rifles.
also, not to be that guy, but it's Keltec, not Kaltec.. the California Institute of Technology doesn't do to much work with firearms.

what is this "read" of which you speak? I am just here to post "glock knockoff" in every thread that does not have "glock" in the title and then go over to the semi auto rifle board and post about why AR15s are unreliable peices of junk that need to be replaced with cheap romanian AK47s

I could see one for a full-size 10mm Glock. Help tame some of the excess recoil while getting pretty decent ballistics from a small package.

Thought about getting one,
decided an AR with a 10 inch barrel and brace is better. binary triggers, drop in auto sears, etc. Pistol is better for home defense. RONI is cool, great company, but it wasn't for me after I thought it over. Not copying Frankenmauser, just hitting the bullet points to save time.

I think they would be more interesting if they weren't so expensive. They cost as much or more than the pistol they go on.
If you don't care about the optics rail, it would be cheaper to SBR the pistol and put a stock on it (if your state allows it). |

My thought was to register a Glock as an SBR and shoot it like this while waiting on the stamp. Once approved, I would decide if I should swap out the brace for a real stock, or to sell it and buy the SBR version. |

If you put a 6" barrel in a G17, would it still fit?
