Resposne to Snubb357

I think you post was excellent and well thought out. Right on par with my own. My second post was not directed towards you

Aqueous,

I wasn't sure what that pic of the gangsta looking guy was supposed to allude to. Now I get it.

Carry on!

Glad to see that HK is also finally breaking the 50 vote mark, only third pistol to do so in this poll. The polling is, however, very slow here.

16 or so more days left and I wonder if we will get beyong 650 in total number of voters.

"Votes" and "polls" can be fun. But only to stimulate conversation.

I would NEVER base my choice of carry gun on what people of an internet forum voted to be the best.

I would use the vote as a starting point for further research. No offense intended to ANYONE, but there are just too many nutcases on the internet.

Well nobody is asking you to. This is just for information and entertainment.

Dont forget you are also on the net

Glock is closing in on victory. Glad to see Sig and HK doing good as well.

It seems from the poll that either DE is not popular or people dont think it is usefull.

Any opinion on why DE is not getting enough votes here? Thanks.

Beretta 96C .... is it also available in INOX, and tech wise how do you compare it to 90two.

Glock

After owning many different popular brands, I have chosen the Glock as my primary carry weapon. I also have a Springfield 1911 Champion which is a great carry weapon, but given the mandate of only one gun, it would have to be a Glock 30.
I have three Glock 19s, two are 2nd gen without finger grooves, one is OD third gen. They are great for their size, function, features, and overall package. The model 30 I picked up in Jan of this year, and it is only slightly larger than the 19, carries 11 rounds of the big .45 ACP, and functions just as good as my 19s. It is also very soft shooting, and accurate. It is rapidly becoming my all time favorite and I hope to get a new one soon. I will probably TRY to find a 30 SF, it seems to be the HOTTEST selling Glock out there right now.

DE lack of responses

I think the lack of support for the DE comes from a few reasons.

For many of us, the price isn't really justified. I can spend a lot less money on a hunting revolver, that will accept a wider variety of loads.

Additionally, for people concerned with CCW, the DE is not a very viable candidate for anybody other than NFL linemen, and even then it's iffy. If I can conceal a DE, I can probably conceal a sawed-off 12gauge...

Last, there are an awful lot of gangsta wanna-be's sporting DE's, not to mention idiots on Youtube.

Cheers,

M

I put down HK, since after comparing side by side to the glock (but not firing the glock), I felt it was of greater quality & care taken to make it, not to mention my experience of owning one has made me realize how well it is indeed made. And I have no real experience with the Sig, but have heard awesome things from a friend who does own one.

But that will not keep me from buying a LOT of the other guns on this list, including at least one glock (maybe even 2 or three of them) and a Sig.

Have an order out right now for a Springfield 1911, too...

I'm surprised Colt and Browning aren't #1 since they are supposed to be the forefathers of semiautos.

Best for what?

I love my 9X18 Makarov; it just never jams. It's very easy to hit your target also. It only holds 8+1 rounds but that single stack magazine makes it very flat and good for carry purposes.

Best for carrying, however, is my P3AT. It sits in my pocket and takes up less room than an empty wallet.

For power, I would have to say, is my tweaked chrome CZ 52, It's a monster. It's accurate, too. If I ever had to take out someone behind a door, or even a car, it would be "best." I had to fiddle with it a bit & upgrade the firing pin to get it right but, since I did that, it hasn't jammed once. It does some crazy damage with Wolf hollowpoints. I'd rather have it than a .45.

For pure range puposes, I love my 9MM Norinco TT33 clone, the Model 213. It's incredibly accurate and pleasant to shoot. It's one of the unknown great pistols.

SA- 1911A1, #2 BHP; BUG-Colt Mustang pocketlite
TDA-Sig 220 series, #2 Beretta/Taurus 92, #3 3rd Gen S&W
DAO/Striker/new precock systems-Glock and my favorite- Steyr M's; XD and M&P...(actually the true DAO's all suck, wouldn't own one, they were a stupid idea and impede good shooting and trigger control) (cannot comment on the new SIG, HK, Walther, Taurus, Para systems never tried any of them not even the Daewoo; So this is striker guns only))

I'll have one of each please, to go.

I have a hard time deciding whether to carry my Kimber,Colt, Browning or Ruger when I leave the house.

Seen them all and chose Beretta

The one new gun I could afford and wanted for my newest sidearm (target sport) is the Beretta 90-two. Easy to take apart and reasemble with two diget action. Got my 17 round magazine, thirteen fewer parts than the 92FS, and a less bus-like appearance then the crackerbox styles that fit a slimmer holster for carry. All other models of my search do the same (shoots, accurate, power, umph and ease) in the same category. But with my rail, safety features (as NRA certified instructor) and sleek looks, I was sold.

Colt and Springfield

We need more Colt and Springfield folks out here to voice there opinion. Surely their numbers are far greater than these polls reflect.
