6.5 Creedmore powder Help

A family member is getting into reloading. He will be reloading a handful of cartridges which I can give plenty of recommendations on like 30-06, 44mag, among others.

However, I have zero experience with the 6.5 creedmore.

His rifle is a ruger precision.
Nightforce nxs 8x32 scope
He will be shooting the 140 gr Hornady ELD
He will be shooting on our family farm at steel targets out to 1k yards.

What powder would y'all recommend for this combo?

H4350 should do anything you will need with that cartridge.

For the Creedmore or 6.5x55 the 140/4350 is hard to beat for target or hunting .

Imr 4451 is also good, I use RL 19 for 140 grn Accubonds in my Creedmoor.

8208xbr works great with140 grain bullets. If you are willing to sacrifice a few hundred fps of velocity. If it were me I would go with 130 grain ELD with Reloader15. Awesome accuracy, and at the velocity level that will carry them out to the long distances with great repeatability.

H4350 and IMR4350 are hard to find, sometimes, because of the demand. I've been using IMR4451 with good results. SMK 142grn, Hornady brass, in a RPR.

I shoot that rifle and exact bullet. H4350 is excellent. I tried others but 4350 just works.

I’ve had the best results with H4350 and also very good results from IMR4350 and RE17.

I've had good luck with Varget for 123 grs or less, and H4350 for 130 grs and up.

Thanks folks. I had him get 8 lbs of H4350. In the off chance it doesn't work out I'll buy it from him and use it.

If he has problems with it... it's his loading technique or something. H4350 is THE go-to powder for 6.5CM...

H4350 seems to be the preferred powder. But I've also used Ramshot Hunter with equally good results and it may be easier to find. RL17 is supposed to be good too, but I've never tried it.

I keep hearing that a lot of guys are using RL16 and getting another 50-100 fps with very good accuracy. I want to try some, but have been able to locate any.

If I were to stuck with only 1 powder it would be Reloader 15. I do not care if I have to give up FPS in velocity. It does not matter how much faster a bullet goes if you can not get repeatable accuracy with it. Reloader 15 with 130 grain bullets is giving me sub half inch 15 to shot groups at 100 yards using a lead sled. They open up some if I am shooting prone with a rear bag. Though none have been over 3/4 moa on a bad day. I use the same powder for 68 grain.223 Remington loads that are sub 1/4 moa from my bolt action. So I get more versatility from the same can.

I would do 4350 if I also loaded for 30-06 as for that it seems to be the standard all the others are judged by.

The 6.5CM shooters are using many of the powders in the H/IMR4350 range, what surprised me was the relative slow burn rate of the powders of choice. When I started loading for my buddy's 6.5, I just assumed ~140grn bullet = IMR4895/4064... and I was wrong. Not that IMR4064 didn't shoot well (I know, I tried it...) but it was explained to me the caliber and bearing surface of the bullet dictated a slower burning powder. Seeing the results some have posted, I tend to agree.
