Mag capacity limit in Texas?

Is there a mag capacity limit for rifles used during hunting in Texas?

From Page 54 in the TP&W handbook:

No magazine-capacity restrictions on any legal firearm except for the three-shell limit for shotguns when hunting migratory birds.

No rimfire, no air rifles, on the "big game" critters.

No silencers, no full-auto. Otherwise, have at it.

I love this state!! i feel for you guys in other , less free states.

Thanks...all I hunt anymore is pheasant but I got invited to go hog hunting this weekend with some guys from work. Planning on taking the Saiga 7.62x39 and wanted to make sure the 20rd mags I have for it would be legal.

I usually carry 2 -30 rounders in my pockets, and a 20 rounder in the gun for prone shooting. I have learned you never really know what you are getting into when you go hog hunting here. I have run into 40 at a time. Talk about a hoot!!

The actual limit is how much you can carry and still move.

The problem I have is that they never stick around long enough to use much ammo on them.

With a suppressor and/or machine gun it might be a different story.

Before the out-of-state-wanna-be-know-it-alls start in, a pig is NOT a game animal in TX so you can use suppressors, machine guns, dynamite, or RPGs if you have access to them, and you can hunt them at night with night vision or lights.

Yeah it dont take hogs very long to vacate the area, but, if you play your cards right sneak up on them close, You can flank them towards a big open field, Unfortunetly, that leaves you with butt shots.

How does a 5.56 work with that kind of shot?

it works great, provided you dont actually hit them in the butt. Usually they will be ducking and dodging in a zig zag pattern, which will give you short oprotunities at broadside head shots.The 556 doesnt kick much , allowing you to keep an eye on your target after youve shot, It is also accurate enough to hit a running hog in the head with enough practice.

Yeah, Not so Politically correct for deer hunting. No going "ungawa!" on deer. Now Pigs,,, that s another story. Anybody that has spent very much time in this part of the world, will find out, or already knows, the Pigs are taking over, and are becoming the game of choice.

Yeah between 3 of us we got 14 on Saturday night at by Palo Duro Canyon...not a bad introductin for my first hog hunt...I had a blast! Having a huge BBQ next weekend.

If you want to start advocating a lot of silly restrictions how about we just outlaw the use of guns and bows? Maybe even outlaw the use of sharp objects and anything you can throw? The only legal way to take a deer would be to drop out of a tree on it's back and break it's neck by hand. Maybe even dropping out of trees should be outlawed because it isn't "sporting" enough?

Seriously, why does it matter if you have a 5 round mag or a 75 round mag?

If 5 rounds is ok, how many it too many to be allowed? 6, 7, 10, or is it just more rounds than your gun holds?

Some of those lever action .44 mag rifles hold 10 or more rounds in the mag. Is that unsporting and the mags should be blocked?

A Marlin M39 will hold something like 26 .22 short cartridges. Should that be outlawed for squirrel hunting? Who needs a gun that holds 26 rounds for hunting?
