CO2 Pellet pistols for practice

I have ten meters I could set up in my basement for pellet pistol practice. I see where there are numerous CO2 pistols for under $200 claiming 400 fps or better. What are your thoughts on using one of these for BE practice when you can't get out to the range?

May I suggest a Daisy 717 or 747?

It's a very good idea. I have used the Crosmans that are suggested as well as other "air" guns. You can really see the difference in your firearm shooting if you spend time trying to be precise with air pistol ( applies to rifles and air rifles as well). At the moment, I am fond of the Benjamin EB22. I carry it around on a belt holster when outside and walking in the woods. Nice steel gun about the size of a 1911, sorta kinda.

The nice thing about the Daisy or a Beman single stroke air pistols is there is no cost of co2. And the single strokes are consistent from shot to shot. No variation in power always the same. They are not overly powerful but that is not what you want. This is a target gun.

I bought a IZH-46M single stroke air pistol for practice. Its a true match 10 meter pistol, but cost a bit more. PyramidAir has them, and there are quite a few used ones on the air forums for a decent price.

Umarex's S&W 586 CO2 replica is well reviewed, and would give you a similar sight picture to your M14 - http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/sh...26%20%20Wesson

I'd never gotten comfortable w/ my Daisy 747. The grips tend to fatigue my hand. So I use a FWB 103 and Steyr LP 50. But these probably cost more than you'd want to spend for a first air pistol.

The Drulov DU-10 is another option. This is a CO2 semi that's set-up much like an ISSF standard pistol.

+3 for the Baikal. I have had one for years. It is my back up gun for match shooting. If you can stand still enough, it can take you all the way to the Olympics. The primary is an FWB gas gun.

I train daily with a s&w 78g, an air pistol they made in 70's as a replica of the model 41.

Also the gamo compact is a respectable trainer.

I also have an airsoft 1911 gas blow-back pistol to train rapid fire. It has about the same recoil as .22. Tokyo Mauri makes some nice ones.
