Correct cleaning kit for Mini 30
Help! I just bought item U30 from Hoppe's, a cleaning kit for .30, 30-.06, .380,. etc. because the store owner said this is for my 7.62x39mm Ruger Mini 30.
I called Hoppe's itself and they said, "No, use item U270 cleaning kit for .270, 7mm, .280. I called six gun stores from Ca. to Ak. and all said, "No, we've been selling the .30 kit for that gun for the last 10 years..." So, which one is it? Does Hoppe's recommend correct but everyone uses .30 cal for more scrubbing or surface coverage? Just don't want to damage my gun and would appreciate a 100% certain history lesson. Send replies to [email protected] Thanks! |

Welcome to TFL!
I'm not sure why Hoppe's would suggest a .270 kit for what is essentially a .308 rifle. I have to agree with the gun store folks on this one. The .270 kit would, no doubt, work well but the jags would (obviously) be slightly undersized and wouldn't provide the tight fit necessary for a good scrubbing. |
