S&W Brass

I have some .243 S&W brass. Does anyone know who manufactures the brass for S&W?

I don't believe I've seen S&W rifle brass before, but...
My experience says it is the lowest bidder.

I've seen S&W brass that was identical to S&B cases. I've seen S&W brass that was identical to Federal cases. I've seen S&W brass that was identical to Olin (Winchester) cases. And, down the line....

I also didn't realize that Smith & Wesson ever had rifle ammo with their name stamped on it. But back in the 1980's (could have started in the late 70s?), Smith & Wesson did have a line of handgun ammunition, and it was produced by Fiocchi.

Not sure if this helps but this is what it says on a box of old (unknown exact age) box of S&W .38spl ammo.

Years ago, a friend had a good supply of S&W brand .30-06. I recall it came from some contractor in Canada. I just had gotten a chronograph and it surprised us by making the advertised velocity in a standard rifle, which few factory loads do.

I think that S&W had an agreement with Fiocchi for their ammunition.

Generally our is not valuable other than for shooting.

The store I worked in back in the 90s’ we got a bunch of the stuff in 38 with the Teflon hollow point bullets. I picked up a couple of boxes for my mother. They shot well out of a 36. I still have a couple of boxes, the photo is what I have in a speed loader for my wife’s gun.
I have no idea who made it.

'Teflon hollow point bullets.'

Nope.

Not Teflon.

Nylon.

S&W developed that round as a means of preventing leading in the bore while giving a bullet that would expand when fired in short-barreled guns. The lead is very soft.

It also helped cut down on lead pollution in ranges.

When S&W got out of the ammunition business they sold that round to Federal, giving birth to the Federal Nyclad round.

For years Nyclads were my first choice in rounds for my snubby revolvers.

I have some of those black coated .38's. They said "NYCLAD" on the box.
