500 S&W and Berry's 350gr
Looking for loading data for Berry's 350 grain in a S&W 500. Anybody know where I can find good and accurate data?

The same places you find data for every other caliber.

Berry's suggests using low to mid-range charge data for jacketed bullets of the same weight.

I shoot the Hornady 350 JHP most all the time in my 500's. I seem to have the best accuracy with the Hornady and H-110 powder. Review the Hornady re-loading manual but for my loads I keep them mid range. The higher loads tend to be less accurate but mid range to lowest charge seem to me VERY accurate.
Work up some loads but that is my suggestion. Hope it helps. |

I've loaded 350 grain bullets for my friends 500 S&W. I just used 50 Action Express loading data and it worked great. Reduced recoil and plenty of killing power. Getting the crimp right was the hard part.
Make sure to use a powder that gives you a good loading density otherwise consistency suffers. I wouldn't load a plated bullet to full pressure in a 500 S&W.

Part of my dilemma with the Berry's stuff initially was reading on their website about staying under the 1200 fps mark. Even the lowest data I could find would push it well above that. So I shot them an email, and while they did not give me data directly, they did clarify a few things. Below is their email response when asked about load data. So for anybody loading 500 S&W and considering using Berry's there you go. I did take these out this weekend and gave them a run with 35gr of Lil Gun and was pleasantly surprised. Accurate and low-med recoil plinking loads. OK..here is the email response from Berry's :
Sorry, we do not have our own tested load data, but let me try to help you. OOps, the 1200 FPS limit is for all of our other copper plated pistol bullets, but not this one. Our 350 Gr. RS bullet for the .500 has been tested from 1200 FPS up to 1800 FPS with good results. Look on www.Hodgdon.com and they have several different powders with loads for the 350 Gr. Hornady XTP which will work with our bullets. Many customers have used :Lil'Gun for their loads. Good Shooting, Bud Watson Berrys Mfg Inc |

I load the Berry's 350 grain bullet with H110 for the 500. Only load I have used so far has been 39.5 of H110 with a Large Rifle Magnum primer. Shoots VERY well--remember to use a good heavy crimp.
