45 acp loads w/red dot

Anyone load 230 gr lrn w/red dot?If so what are some of your loads.Thanks

I have just loaded my first batch of .45 acp and it just so happened to be with red dot.I'm using 4gr. of red dot with a 230 gr lrn.bullet from meister hard cast.I shot a couple of magazines out of my para warthog to test them out.No feeding problems and they seem to be fairly acurate.I already load the 44 mag and the 45 colt but this is my first try at 45 acp.I will be experimenting with different powder in the future but I see no reason red dot wouldn't be a fine powder for the 45 auto.

From the Lyman cast bullet handbook: bullet 452374 @ 225 grains, start load is 4.3 grains red dot for 705 fps; max is 5.3 grains for 835 fps. I usually use 4.8 grains.

I have loaded them from 4-5.0 and had good luck. I REALLY like the smell of Red Dot burning too.

I found Clays to be a little more economical and a little more accurate, so I have been using that for several years.

I've heard many people call Red Dot, Red Dirt.
If you find it dirty, you should give Clays a try.
