Which Colt Mustang?

I am seriously looking at the Colt Mustang 380, but which one? There are two, the Colt Mustang Pocketlite 380 ACP, which weighs in at 12.5 ozs. and the Colt Mustang Pocketlite 380 ACP XSP, the Polymer version, which weighs in at 12 ozs.

Has anyone shot the above mentioned pistols? What is your opinion after shooting them? Would the Sig or Kahr 380 be a better choice? Or has Colt finally out done the competition?

The polymer version is quite new. I've only seen one review of it, and that was in a commercial gun rag so naturally it was favorable.

I have an original (all steel, not Pocketlite) Mustang and I think it's a fantastic pistol. If I were buying a new one today, I'd definitely get the alloy version, not the plastic.

I know what Colt was thinking making the plastic Mustang, they want to compete with the half a million plastic compacts out there. With that said, a plastic Colt semiautomatic is sacrilege.

Get the alloy gun.

Mustang is only COLT i dont own and wont buy they have FTF issues.

This is my "Pocketlite" version. Functions OK with the right ammo. I had a hard time hitting the target.....not so much with my stainless Gov't model .380.

I love the Mustang (Dad has one). I don't think I could convince myself to get a polymer version of that specific pistol.

I give the Sig P238 the edge when it comes to sights though. My 238 is a lot easier to get on target (for me at least). The Colt sights are pretty low profile.

For 1/2 ounce, I'd stick with steel.

Same here, I have a SIG P238 and in some ways I think it's probably better then the original Mustang but not where it really matters that much.

The poly just doesn't do anything for me and it's not any cheaper to buy even though it should be cheaper to make

The new one tested for M1911.ORG doesn't -- I know the guy who tested it.

In fact, yours is the first comment I have ever encountered suggesting that "they" (which grammatically indicates ALL of them) have FTF issues. Yours may, but that's not a valid basis on which to claim that they all do.

What is the foundation for your statement?

True.

But I do own one. And while "the plural of anecdote is not data" and therefore a sample of one (or even several) cannot prove a blanket statement such as "They have FTF issues," a sample of even one CAN disprove such a blanket statement. If even one (such as mine) does not have FTF issues, then it may be true that "some" have FTF issues but it cannot be true that "they" (connoting "all") have FTF issues.
