glock generation 3????????

so i was wondering if glock is still manufacturing the gen 3 versions of their wonderful firearms? i am in the mood to get a g19 and prefer the gen 3 over the "new and improved" gen 4. since the gen 4 is out it really doesn't make since for them to carry on with the gen 3 even though i prefer the s series. what say y'all in the know about this? it appear that everybody is on backorder for glocks and that glock let them put in an order but no eta on when they will actually get the guns.
thanks,
whitearrow

I am not sure if they are but there are plenty of them around. I just bought a brand new Gen 3 Glock 30 a few days ago so they are out there if you look hard enough.

I believe they are. My distributors still list Gen 3 versions as stock items. They get down to 0, then fill up again. They're either still making them, or they're sitting on a gigantic back stock in Austria.

Based on my recollection of comments made by the instructor in a recent Glock Armorer's class, Glock currently has no plans to discontinue Gen 3 production.

+1

I'd imagine as long as they're backordered by hundreds of thousands of guns they'll keep on doing more of the same--it's how Glock does it.

I personally don't think Glock needed the Gen 4.....99% of us were happy with every Gen 3 we have.

Gen 4 has the best grips, Gen 3 grips are slippery.

Yes but most were happy with their Glock nonetheless. And until the Gen 4, I bet many didn't even think about the grip being slick. I know I didn't. But it doesn't matter much to me, I have no complaint about the grip on my Gen 3.
I actually like the smooth because it doesn't rub my side raw when I carry it without an undershirt.

I'll be honest. If I could have picked up a Gen 4 on Monday, I'd have grabbed that instead of my Gen 3. Great either way, but that new spring is great for the 23.

I wish Glock had a gen 2.5. No finger grooves but has a rail. They made it backwards.
