357 Sig: Glock 31 or Sig P-250?

I am set on my next purchase being a 357 Sig, I reload and have 1000+ brass so I'm not worried about the rounds cost. I have held both weapons and to me, the p250 just seemed like it was better balanced and fit my big hands perfect. Does anyone have any input on these two guns? Reliability, accuracy, etc. I would expect them to both rate high, just looking for personal experiences here.

That sentence right there tells you what you already know.

But, if you're looking for opinions... If I had money for either the Glock or Sig.. I'd be leaving with the Sig.

I think it is all dependent on which trigger you prefer. My SIG was the absolute best DA trigger in my collection, but it was still a DA only trigger and difficult for me to hold steady on target. The Glock trigger I find to be mushy, but with a reliably consistent take-up and break, I am more accurate with my Glocks.

If you haven't done so, please shoot both (regardless of calibre) to find the trigger which suits you.

Happy Shopping!

K liked the Sig trigger better. I couldn't hold the block as steady through the pull.

I had a 31 and I had a P250 in 9mm.

My 31 was beating itself to death on the underside of the slide and showed no indication of slowing up. I was told its common on the .40's as well, and would stop, but mine seemed like it was just getting worse. I put a 9mm Lone Wolf barrel in it and it seemed to stop then. When I got rid of it, it actually had more 9mm through it than it did 357SIG.

I never had any complaints about my P250. I think they have the best feeling grip of all the P series SIG's. If youre a DA revolver shooter, their trigger wont be a problem, and I always found mine to be very nice and easy to shoot well with.

If you shoot a thumbs forward grip, the only thing you need to watch with the SIG's, is where you put your strong hand thumb. Get it in the wrong place, and the slide will go home on an empty mag. That slide stop lever is easily and unintentionally bumped. Lefties get to play here too with the P250, as its controls are ambi.

I had 5 SIG's in 357SIG, and all seemed to handle the round fine. None showed any accelerated wear like the Glock did. Cant say for sure how the P250 will deal with it, as it is a little different than the alloy framed guns, but I would imagine it would do fine.

Great input on that last post! Thank you. I bet your right as the p250 is metal on metal compared to the Glock. Thanks again all. Keep em coming though

Actually, the P250 is closer to the Glock in how the slide and frame rails are set up than the other P series SIG's.

You don't like the P226 or P229?

You will like the P250 if it fits your hand, but it is DAO and the smoothest trigger of almost any pistol you can find. One of my favorite pistols to carry.

I like all the full size Sig's just not the price of them. The 250 was the cheapest and felt better than the Glock.

Since you reload you can load the .357 SIG down some for practice.

125gr at 1300 fps does not pound the gun anywhere near like full 1400 fps loads.

As for which one, well I have the Glock 31 and it works real fine. I just don't shoot 50,000 rounds of full powered .357 Sig in it!

It's called slide peening and is relevant on all calibers of Glocks. Nothing unusual.

I have yet to see it on any of my 9mm Glocks (I currently have 12), and I have one with a documented 65000 rounds through it, and another with 22000, and all any of them show, is some very slight finish wear in the same spot on the underside of the slide, where the 31 was "peening". By "slight finish wear", I mean you can see a slight discoloration in the finish, and neither is worn to bear metal. The 31 was way past that and definitely hammering the metal.

I actually have more +P+ 9mm (which is basically loaded to 357SIG pressures) through those two high count guns, than I had 357SIG through my 31.

The 31 on the other hand, was continually leaving enough of a burr, that I cut my fingers a couple of times cleaning it. I was told it was common with the .40's, but never really saw any on the couple I looked at, and certainly nothing like what my 31 was doing.

This was my 31 slide when it first started to happen. The two silver spots just back from the front of the ejection port is what youre looking at. Its already past the finish and into bare metal, and hammering it over the edges. It actually got quite a bit larger than what you see here and just before I got rid of it, I just dont have another pic of it. ..

This is my one 17, with just over 60000 rounds through it, whren this was taken. You can see the slight wear marks on the finish in the same place the 31 was being battered.

Ok, since you say you use +p+ that has the same pressures as the .357 Sig,. and little slide peening, then that indicates your .357 Sig was made with some kind of error.

For you see, how could it have peening on the .357 Sig version but the 9mm version not have it?

Talk to Glock about this.

I'm the happy owner of two sig p250's. I have a full sized 45 and a sub compact 40. Neither of them has ever had any type of feeding issue that I can recall. I find both pistols accurate with very smooth triggers. I will admit to being partial to DAO triggers on ccw guns because they remind me of the revolvers I cut my teeth on.

i know it wasn't mentioned as a option, but i had no problems with the SA XD357, i did my research when i was in the market for a 357 SIG, and settled on the XD357, so the OP can consider the XD357 as an option, i will admit that the 12 round cap of the XD357 may be a downside, but that's what mag extensions are for.

I'm happy with my Sig P250c 40sw.

All I need is a 357sig barrel to shoot 357sig.

239 as a .357 Sig is great

I bought a police trade in 239 in 40 cal a few years ago. While I was in the dealers parking lot, I called Sig and ordered a .357 Sig barrel and 3 .357 Sig magazines (unlike the double stack conversions, it is recommended to purchase the separate .357 magazines even though it will work with the .40 cal magazines).

I did change the sights to the high contrast sights adjusted for proper point of impact (the .357 Sig round usually prints about an inch lower than the 40 cal round).

This is my second .357 Sig pistol which I plan never to sell. My first experience was a 226 40 cal with a .357 barrel (a little to heavy for non-uniform carry).
