H4350

I can't find any h4350 for my 243 and 30-06. Anyone else been able to find it? I'm worried it may be a while before it comes in stock again.

Anyone have any alternative powders they like in the 4350 range? I was thinking RL17 but worried about temp sensitivity.. Thoughts?

It was plentiful at this weekends gun show here VA. I picked up two pounds but saw several vendors with it.

Reloading manuals for the bullet weight you're loading should give you several alternatives.

imr 4350, 4895, 4064 ramshot big game all should provide acceptable performance in 06 or 308.

Powders aren't as hard to find as they once were, but them Creedmoor boys have that H4350 swallowed up before it hits the shelf.
Another good powder is IMR 4451, try to find that.

I've seen quite a bit of imr 4350 around so I may try that. I'm shooting nosler 175/180s for the 30-06. I don't see any load data for 4451. What kinda velocities you getting hooligan??

smoothie25, You might check Hodgdon loading data online as 2017 manual has loading data for 30-06 using IMR-4451. Where I live they get couple dollars more for that powder.

Have you tried graffs in St Charles? They generally have a very good stock.

You can't beat 4064 in 243 or 30-06.

If you lived closer I'd donate a couple pounds to the cause. I use it for 243 and only run through about 100 rounds a year. Reload them in the winter and store them for the warmer months.

I was at Grafs on Saturday and they were out. After calling and emailing several shops within about a 100 mile radius I found a shop that has one 8lb jug of H4350 left. Going tomorrow to pick it up. Thanks for all the help gents!

Ok, you are good for now.

When you are down to 4 lbs, start looking.

IMR4350 does shoot very good in 30-06. I have and use it. Sans a picky gun it would do fine.

H4831 also is a very good powder.

I have gotten very good results with R-17.

I would pick up a pound of an alternative and work with it, develop a good load and then do the same again.

At that point you have 3 go to powders and will not get caught out short.

Generally the 30-06 is not picky on powder, you have to paly with load levels to get a good load, but so far all of the known powders have done that for me.

I just start at the low end, work up in 3/10 increments in a good COAL, through 50 or 100 and see what looks good.

Then I play with COAL to see if it will sharpen up. It may be sharp already and you are good.

Go over, sometimes you are on the lower edge of a good node and a bit off in primer, temp etc will knock you off that.

Find out what the middle of the node is and that should stay good with variations.

I use RL 17 in my 6.5 Creedmoor and never looked back. Higher velocities, far better availability, much cheaper, awesome accuracy in MY loads, had loaded ammo outside in direct sunshine on a 90 Degree day. IME, very consistent. BR-2, 140 SMK, 41.0 of RL 17, and that load doesn't even yawn to hit 1k. Zero, pressure signs.

I would think it would do just fine in your .243 Win.

Creedmoor shooters went nuts for H4350 because Hornady said on a flap of 140gr ammo, to paraphrase Hornady "to reproduce these loads, H4350 can be used". Hornady never said H4350 was THE powder used. And people ate it up.

If you check reloading threads about the 6.5 CM on various websites, majority of posts are about using H4350 for best results. Seldom see IMR4350 mentioned and never Accurate 4350.

Accurate's powder/reloading data doesn't even show their 4350 for the 6.5 CM. Email Accurate for 4350 load data in the 6.5CM and you'll get it in a day or so. Accurate 4350 has worked about the same as H4350 in my 6.5CM.
