Cowboy action cartridges

Hi,

Are the new "Cowboy action Loads" made by Winchester and others safe to shot in black powder arms?
Or are they too powerful?
Thanks
Jerry

Probably not if you're talking about old Colts and other 100 year old guns. The steels were not as good then, and time doesn't make them any stronger. If you're talking about the converted cap and ball guns, the cowboy loads are fine since they are usually at the lower end of the pressure scale.
