Shorter barrel over/under 12ga wood...what?

Hey there,

Are there any shorter barrelled over/under 12ga shotguns out there that are not tactical? ATI Cavalry comes in 21" with 9" extension tubes, but I've read that these have soft metal issues where the barrels lock up. I know the CZ Redhead, Mossberg Silver Reserve II and Stoeger Condor are well liked, but they are all long barreled.

I like the Mossberg II, but again, 28".

Summation, any others 18-24", wood, non tactical, extractor or ejector 12ga over/under shotguns?

I think stoeger made one called the out back...20" o/u.....and maybe another model with short barrels...not sure if they still make either

You could always cut one of the cheaper guns to get what you want I suppose

Stoeger. They make one with a black finished wood and nickel plated barrels. It's a looker and not a pic rail to be seen.

What's your goal with it?

At one time Lanber made a 21 inch barreled O/U, very light for a 12 gauge.
Alloy receiver, nice wood and fiber optic sights.
The kicker is that both barrels are rifled! Great woods gun with the Lyman 525 sabot slug.
Recoil will send you into the next county, not a gun for extended bench work.

Pure fun.

I think the shorter over/under are the best looking shotguns, so just ownership and fun at the range.

Short barrels start fast on the swing and stop even faster; ergo the swing dynamics suck which is why you see folks going to longer barrels for all of the clay games. Shorter barrels also mean less weight which, in turn, means more recoil. But for grins and giggles? Whatever floats your boat!
