AdSubtract disappearing thread magic...
I recently downloaded and installed AdSubtract, a free utility that blocks banner and pop-up ads and such. Now, if filtering is enabled when I open the TFL forum, all of the message/thread URL links are missing. If I disable filtering and refresh the screen, the links magically reappear.
Is TFL aware of this issue? If so, is there a fix (other than turning the program off)? |

I can't think of any reason to run that program when visiting TFL. There are no advertisements.
Simplest solution... Shut it off. |

Duh.....
I asked for input "OTHER THAN TURNING THE PROGRAM OFF." I figured that one out all by myself.
I realize that TFL doesn't use banner ads and such, but the program runs in the background. And if there are no ads on TFL, then what's going on that would cause the links to disappear? The icons, post dates, and such are there - just not the links. Forgive me for being the anal retentive stickler for minutia that I am, but I want a permanent solution, not temporary fix. I am curious to know whether anyone else has reported this phenomenon and what actions, if any, have been taken to alleviate this "problem". I realize that I can, in fact, always disble it when visiting TFL. I just want to eat my cake!! |

The program probably thinks that the links are banner ads because they contain the "=" symbol. Most banner ads use an "=" between the URL and affiliate code. Do the links at the top of the page disappear too?

PF, all of the links at the top of the page appear to be intact. Only the thread links are disappearing. I'm kind of at a loss since this has not happened on any other gun board - only TFL.

FIXED!!!
After some research, I found that you can set up certain sites as "custom" sites on AdSubtract. Proceeding in this manner, I have solved the problem.
Thanks, PF, your suggestion started me down the right path. |
