SN's ran from D510001 in 1973 to D659901 in 1974.

model 10 I am assuming.

If it's blued, chambered in 38 special and has a steel frame vs aluminum, then yes.

Can anyone out there help me date a Smith Model 13-3, serial number ABS7965. This is my first k frame but I love it already. Got the gun on a trade...beautiful piece. Guy didn't know any history of it and I know every gun has a story.

A picture and/or more info would help. S&W reused the same SN's thru out the model lines so determining the model has to be done first. None of the 44 Specials ran in that SN range unless there is a "S" prefix with that SN.

Does it have a modern swingout cylinder or is it the type where the barrel and cylinder tip down to load/unload? Does it have an exposed hammer or a concealed hammer with a grip safety? What is the exact chambering (caliber) stamped on the side of the barrel? Example: 32 S&W LONG.

The serial number is correct. I believe the gun is a Model 37 in .45 ACP.
I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

The serial # is 5D46332. It's in really nice shape, was wondering if anyone knew what year it was made?

Pics of Model 1937 in .45 ACP. On the back of the grip is the number 23073. Inside the yoke is 39167. The serial number of 205626 is on the bottom of the grip, on the end of the cylinder and on the bottom of the barrel. On one side of the frame is "Estados Unidos de Brazil". The other side has the S&W monogram. The grips are in fair to poor shape. The old girl has seen some abuse but still locks up nice and tight. Bore is good. Would it be worth it to have the gun restored? Thanks for the help.

Pics of Model 1937 in .45 ACP.

It's a Model 1917. It was part of a 25,000 gun shipment to Brazil in 1938. Serial numbers ran in the 181983 to 207043 range.
A second shipment in 1946 ran in the 207196 to 207989 range.

The serial dates your S&W .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 to 1906-1909.

If you push the extractor star outwards, do you notice two dowel pins underneath on the cylinder surface?

Wow! How cool! this revolver is over 100 years old!

I do wish it was in better condition though.
I took it to a gun smith today and he said it appeared to be ok to shoot.

There does not seem to be any dowel pins below the ejector star.
However, I did notice 9 "notches" on the inside handle.
If this gun could talk....
It has been in the family for probably 50 years,
but before that....who knows!

Sounds like the 1st change of the 1905 model.

You can always request a letter from S&W to get more exact information.

The cost might be around $40, but it will let you know a little more information such as a more exact manufacturing date and where it was originally shipped to.

I have an older Airweight Bodyguard J-Frame in .38 Special which has a pinned barrel. I believe it may be a Model 38. The serial number is J883075.

It is nickel-plated, and I'm informed that S&W did this by first plating the aluminum frame with copper, then plating the nickel over the copper.

What can you tell me about when this one was manufactured?
