Winchester .308 brass

Bought a bag of new .308 brass and I f/l sized the lot and over seventy five percent had dents and or dimples in the shoulders. New one on me....any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

Too much case lube does it every time. Don't worry about it. They'll shoot normally. Peak pressure is determined by the size the case expands to in the chamber, and chamber pressure will iron the dents right out. Be a tad stingier with the lube next time, and you'll be fine.

Yup I still have that problem and I know what causes it. You wont be able to tell them apart after shooting them.

I have the problem also now and then... some calibers seem worse for doin it than others... no big deal once you let the powder off in it.

When sizing, keep all lube off the shoulder of the case. Sides only, and once in a while inside the neck but never outside the neck or on the shoulder.

Going to the likes of Imperial Sizing Wax will solve that problem. (Because of the way you apply it.)

Also remember that lube builds up in the die. Since I went to the spray/pump lubes, this problem has mostly gone away.

Don't forget to cleanup your full length die especially the bleed holes near the top of the die after every use. Along with using a very sparingly amount of lubricant you will realize trouble free sizing.
