Nice Deer

My buddy shot this nice buck on our farm today...11pt with several broken tines...a dominant buck for sure.

A thousand gun control laws would not have prevented this massacre. What am I doing?"

Nice buck. I envy you guys that get to use rifles. What part of the country are you in?

That's a hog of a deer! Your buddy is a lucky man! Is the stand in the background where it was shot from?

Yes, he sure was lucky, a once in a lifetime deer.
We hail from Missouri so we enjoy hunting with rifles.
He used a .270 cal. I use a Savage 111 LF in 25.06 caliber.
Yes, it was the stand behind him where he shot the deer.
100 yards...the ol' buck was on his way to visit the many
"girls-deer" we also hunt.
To date (the season opened on the 10th and closes tomorrow the 20th) we've harvested 15 thru this evening. Ten were bucks, three of those were button bucks. The buck/doe ration was similar last season.
Tomorrow, a bunch of doe are expected to bite the dust.
Last year I took the one "wall hanger" shot on the farm (not near as nice as the one in the photo) with a total of 22 deer harvested. That included the January Antlerless-only 3-day season).
This year, we expect the total to be close to last year's total.
Not bad for 160 acres huh?

Here's my son's 8 point shot opening day.
