Shrinking a Leather Holster?

I found a good quality holster in the 'used bin' at my local dealer but my 5 shot snub does not fit tightly into it - its close but not snug enough. The gun / model is is not maked on the holster but it looks as though it was probably for a a six shot snub like the Detective Special.

Is there a way I can 'shrink' the holster to fit?

Soak it in water, put your revolver in it while the leather is wet and let it dry. It will shrink to the shape of your revolver and fit it perfectly if it already is a pretty decent fit. Just remember to put a light film of oil on the revolver before and clean it good afterwards so it won't rust.

Remolding with water usually works. But if needed, PM me, and I can add a row of stitching or a rivet/screw to take up some of the excess leather.

I do this ALOT...

Thanks guys I will try your recommendation. The holster has a semi gloss / boned finish on the exterior...could this present a problem?
