Milsurp powder/5.56 recipes?

I was wondering if anyone out there uses the military surplus powder, and if so were you pleased with it? Also- I wanted to know where the best place to get the powder from.

The other thing is that I want to start loading 5.56 to be fired out of an AR w/ 20" bbl and 1/10 twist. I am supposing that my best bet is a 62 gn fmjbt, but what powder would work best in this rifle (what does the military use?), and what kind of charges?

I appreciate all info!

I was just about to order some WC844 at http://www.Wideners.com I know the Military loads there 62SCBT rounds with 26.1gr of WC844. I only reload 62gr for my Mini-14 and the USGI ammo is the best out there. I haven't reloaded with WC844 yet but its probable one of the best for the 62Gr. I Buy all my reloading stuff from Wideners and Only use IMI Bullets.

Thank's so much for the info. I knew of widners, but that hi-techammo.com is a great source and they beat widners prices on everything.
.223 didn't seem like it was worthwhile to load since there is so much cheap stuff on the market right now, but it is pretty cheap if purchased in its milsurp componenets, plus I really need to load some tracer ammo just for fun on the 4th of July!

i buy 4895 from patsreloading.com--64.00 for 8 lbs--shoots about 1"or so with my FAL-also use it in 223--thinking about ordering some of the WC powders in next order--most of my shooting is banging steel gongs at 100,200,300 and some paper punching--for my money the 55gr bullets from Weidners or whereever is the best bet..the cheaper the better--i would not pay extra for the 62 grainers...Dick

Since I started using 62gr and not 55gr bullets I notice atleast a 2 inch improvement on grouping when I heat up the barrel. I've had spreads of about 5inches with the 55gr bullets at 100yds and the 62SCBT don't spread more than 2.75. Thats a big difference to me.
