Product Warning and Question

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=873271

Go to that link... and then close it out and never visit it again unless you are warning a friend.

For seventy bucks, that sight is a piece of garbage. I wouldn't pay ten for it because it just sucks that bad.

I was looking for a rear sight to replace the tactical carry handle that came with my RRA carbine and this seemed like a reasonable choice. I attended an Appleseed with it (everyone should attend one of these) and after one day and about 200 rounds the sight wobbled so much it almost fell off. And that was with blue locktight on. This coupled with the sight's adjustment clicks being fuzzy and un-precise make the product so bad.

Anyone have suggestions for a better rear sight that attaches on to picatinny?

The AR isn't known as a severe test of recoil for sighting mechanisms. HOW did the sight loosen up, what parts got floppy?

"200 rounds and it's floppy" implies a major maker is selling something not even airsoft capable, which is a stretch of credibility. How about posting a pic of what you have mounted up to establish that?

Just for example, was this on a 5.56 upper, or a .458 SOCOM? Inquiring minds want to know.

Where did you put the loctite?

Why would you need to loc-tite a rail mount sight?

You would need to loctite it because the thumbscrews holding it in place have worked loose and continue to work loose after being tightened.

I put the a drip of the loctite on the tip of the screw.

And I'm not sure why you don't believe me... to what purpose would I lie about something like this? I took the sight off but If you want me to take a picture of the sight i can...

Why don't you post your review on the Midway site for potential purchasers to see? The current reviews lead me to believe it's not a bad sight for the money. The overall rating is 4.5 out of 5 with the worst review giving it 3 stars.

It's not a matter of disbelief, I was trying to figure out how it got loose and where one would put loctite to prevent that.

I'm still not exactly clear on the nature of the malfunction but I think you're saying that the screws loosened and even after you put loctite on them they still wouldn't stay tight. Is that right?

My experience with thumbscrews like those is that if you put a coin in the slot and snug down with a pair of pliers then they don't come loose. Trying to tighten with fingers only (as it looks like you're supposed to) will never get them tight enough.

How tight did you get them?

I agree with this statement, I know from experience these thumb screws need tightening with a tool not the fingers.

Yes even with loctite and a hard screw-in they came loose. And I will definitely use a tool next time thanks
