shooting with a scope ?
I wanted to ask, you guys that shoot a rifle with a scope. Do you close one eye or keep both eyes open ?
What is the best way to adjust the eye piece for clarity ? |

For scopes I keep one eye closed. As for clarity I usually fiddle with the scopes adjustments until I find the best picture for that magnification setting

Re: shooting with a scope ?
Depends on how far I am shooting. In 3 gun where the majority of my rifle targets are inside of 100 yards and I am at a low (<2.5x) magnification I shoot two eyes open. With shooting at longer ranges I do close my non-dominant eye.

Both eyes open and look away !!
I find it difficult to switch back and forth so I shoot with both eye open, especially when hunting or using RedDots. I suppose I'd go to closing one eye if I started shooting competition. Whatever technique we use, it comes second nature and really give it little thought. .....
As far as adjusting for clarity, you have focus and then sharpen the image of both radicles. I usually look away then look again to see my results. I repeat the process and routinely look away so my eye isn't trying to compensate. Be Safe !!!

Since we are talking about scopes when magnifying a target does the zero change or should I shoot with the same zero

Re: shooting with a scope ?
If you zero your gun and scope at 100 yards (or whatever range you zero it), your gun will shoot to that zero regardless of what magnification the scope is on.

A good discussion of scope focus here; http://www.leupold.com/life/help-des...icle-is-clear/ |
