A good place to start?

So I am new to the civilian .308 market and am well aware that each individual wpn wants its own rounds. I am shooting an M700 SPS and would like to know what some of you guys have had good luck, what does your particular gun like as a starting point for me so I don't spend thousands on box's of twenty. I will still probably go through several different kinds but a smaller sector of fire would be nice!

Federal ammo has always done well for me. But ever gun does a better or
worse on the kind of ammo you put through it. Guns are
just as bad as people and sometimes one load will be amazing in one gun
and the next won't do so well. I personally suggest if your looking
to get the max preformance out of your rifle learn how to load your own
ammo and when you find that perfect concoction you'll be amazed at what
your rifle can do. And will save you a few bucks down the road if you shoot
enough. But pretty much all high end stuff preforms the best of course.
Just depends on how much ur lookin to spend really..

Well the money spent developing my own rounds is well worth the one or two that perform as need when I need them to so no worries on trying a few! thanks

Fed GM and Black Hills Match both shoot very well. A little handloading will wring evem more accuracy out of it. Have fun, and let us know what works.

Mine prefers Federal GMM so far, but I haven't even started working up a load. If it ever decides to warm up around here, I'm gonna work up a load with 168's and 155's.

I have a 700 SPS Tactical and has no problem consistently shooting sub- 3/4 MOA with Lake City XM118LR 175gr.

Federal Fusion has always been superior and accurate ammo in my 308.

For handloading I use Hornady and or Nosler 168 BTHP's and Nosler 155 BTHP's. They work well for me, and I have a lot of them on hand, so I haven't ventured into anything else.

I use Nosler 168 gr BTHP for target loads, will be moving up to the 175's as soon as I use up the remaining 300 or so 168's.

For hunting I use Hornady 165 gr soft point boat tails for "close work" which is 200 or under. I have some 168 gr ballistic tips on the bench for "long range" hunting if I ever get a chance for an antelope hunt or other American plains hunting.

I took both of my Bucks this year with the same bullets on the factory loads and was not disappointed. They gave me sub-half MOA @ 100. The rain started before I could walk my lazy@zz down the field to get it so I have no proof but what I do have is two racks. A nice 7 and a ,praying hands, 8. I actually took the 250 lp 7 point at 240-ish meters while using the hard-top of my Rubi as bench. I am hoping that those Hornady's will be the most accurate so I can continnue using them for those walking Bar-Be-Ques and for range stuff as-well!

So I got my orders in from MidwayUSA and NSS. I will test each as I can hopefully the weather stays decent this weekend!

I had to take the pics with my phone, Rounds are as follows:

Hornady 168gr InterLocks

Remington 165gr AccuTip

Remington 165 MatchKing

Black Hills Gold 168gr Barnes Triple Shcok

Federal GMM 168gr Sierra MatchKing

I will post the results from my range time. Thank You to all posted and got me my "Good Start"
